The Central Florida AFL-CIO has endorsed Betsy VanderLey in her campaign for reelection for Orange County Commission District 1.
In notifying Betsy of the endorsement, Central Florida AFL-CIO President Eric Clinton wrote, “Central Labor Council and the Florida AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education has determined that your candidacy best represents the interests of working families in your race.”
Honored to receive the endorsement, Betsy says, “As a former construction company owner and wife of a trained carpenter, I understand the value of skilled labor. While in office, I have worked hard to hear all sides of every issue before making a decision. The input of those with differing viewpoint and experiences has been particularly valuable, as it has helped me make more appropriate decisions which address every aspect of an issue, not just the ones with which I am intimately familiar.”
Clinton also noted the organization looks forward to helping Betsy win her race and hopes to continue working with her in the future to keep fighting for social and economic justice for all Central Florida’s working families.”
An endorsement from the AFL-CIO carries with it the support of all its members affiliates: Custodians & Teachers, Electricians & Painters, Cooks & Housekeepers, and many more.
Betsy VanderLey has earned support from a wide variety of individuals and endorsing organizations, including Buddy Dyer, Orlando Mayor; Teresa Jacobs, School Board Chair and Former Orange County Mayor; Tiffany Russell Moore, Clerk of Courts; School Board Members Melissa Byrd and Pam Gould; West Orange Political Alliance; Apartment Association of Greater Orlando; Associated Builders and Contractors; Conservative Ministers of Central Florida; Orlando Regional Realtors Association; and Greater Orlando Builders Association.
